Water in a greenhose in winter??

I'm confused, I know water can absorb heat and all that about heat transfer but keeping water in the greenhouse when the temperatures go below freezing won't freeze the water?... :?:

If it stays cold like 5 degrees for a few days with no day sun it can happen. if the sun is out even if its zero out the water will absorb enough heat to not freeze. Water that has ice in it still gives off heat to keep temp close to freezing. My lettuce is still alive in my greenhouse with some ice in the water. You need double layers of plastic to keep it above freeing single will not work. When water starts to freeze it gives off a lot of heat from the phase change that is why it tends not to freeze completely!
