Strained dirt in black pots heat storage & seed starti

I think I got a good idea for the strained dirt I take from my cold frames! Moist dirt in a black container or black gallon pot is great for heat storage. I stained 4 wheelbarrows of good top soil from one of my 3 by 6 cold frames this past week! I dug the cold frame down to 18 inches deep and strained all the dirt gettin alot of weed roots out!
+++ The dirt is very rich and I put it into about 20 large black pots one and 2 gallon and placed them all over my two solar greenhoused. The plan was three fold dig out a cold frame, use the strained dirt for heat storage and have lots of rich top soil in the greenhouse for the bottom 3 inches of my seed boxes! I plan on doing this with all 5 cold frames then making the cold frames better with leaves at the bottom and a dirt and lasagna set up in the cold frames which will become raised beds in june! Has anyone done something similar or has any other ideas on the same lines?

How does strained garden soil ,sand and perlite mixed sound like for starting seeds?

I prefer a sterile soil-less mix for seed starting - "Redi-Earth" was one brand.

with the sterile stuff I at least knew if something sprouted, likely to be something I wanted . . . .

I usually put the strained garden soil under about two inches of potting soil to keep the weeds down. The mix looks really rich so will try maybe a few boxes to see how it works! When I use the potting soils they seem to get dry to fast!

I'm considering trying this. Have you noticed anything yet? Positive or Negative?
