New perrenials turning yellow

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum and sure hope someone can help.

I have been watering my newly planted perrenials every couple of days hoping that they would root. Unfortunately , I notice the opposite. They are not growing at all and the leaves are turning yellow.

I checked the soil and the top is dry but deeper down it is wet.

Will they survive this water log and when should I water them again?

Stop watering. If you have poorly draining soil the roots will rot off. Leave them unwatered for at least a week. If they look no better take them out, put some compost in the hole, backfill with compost mixed with some of your soil and water in again. Leave for another week.
