What's wrong with my Giant Calla Lillies?

I planted these bulbs in the soil in April. Bloom time where I live, in Zone 9b, is in early spring (Feb-March). So the planted these bulbs after their bloom season. I obviously did not expect any blooms this year (or even next). But the foliage seems rather stunted and curled. I do think I need to move them to an area where they get more sunlight. They currently only get 3-4 hrs of midday sun.
But as I understand it, sunlight only affects blooms and not the foliage - correct?
I do not see any sign of disease on the leaves.
What could be the problem here?
1. Overcrowding? I planted 3 bulbs together in a hole.
2. Lack of sunlight and will moving to a different area with more sunlight fix it?
3. Poor quality bulbs?
4. Bulb/root rot?
5. Immaturity, I.e will they get better next year?

Thank you! First timer here...appreciate the help :)
