Oriental poppies in Southern California

Has anyone in the Southern California grown Oriental Poppies and had success with them? I got gifted with 3 6-packs of seedlings and I'm trying to figure out where to plant them. I know they grow great where there is a winter and moderate summer weather, but I'm in Pomona (halfway between L.A. and Palm Springs) and no-one would call this anything like 'moderate' in the summer (100+ and no rain for 4 months). Anywhere I plant them will have irrigation which can be adjusted and a whole range of sun/shade options available. Let me know some options.

Thanks!
