Oleander plant leaves droop

I had a healthy oleander plant transferred from the pot to the garden by the guy who comes into mow my lawn. After a while, the plant started drooping.

Any ideas on why it would happen ? I removed the plant and checked the root ball - it was undisturbed, the way it was originally in the pot) and some of the branches seemed really dried up. I replanted this in a pot with some quality potting soil (after breaking up the root soil a bit) and put in some fertilzer sticks.

Will this work ?

Please let me know.
