Perrenial Gardening

I recently purchased some land and would like some tips and information on how to tame the land into perrenial beds. Ph balance for different plants, what grows where and how to maintain them. I live in zone 5. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated and give me a head start on next year. Thank you in advance. bonnie

I suggest you get Growing Perennials in Cold Climates by Mike Heger and The Well Tended Perennial Garden by Tracy DiSabato-Aust. The older book, Perennials by Pamela Harper and the late Frederick McGourty is also good.
