trimming phlox

Planted these phlox about a month ago. So now some of the flowers are falling off. Do I need to do anything to promote additional blooms or are they done? if I do cut, where?

I'm new to this gardening thing so just want to do the right thing. Will they get bigger or bushier next year?

Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Hi :D
Just deadhead for now which may mean you get more flowers. Either cut or nip with your fingers just below the clusters of flowers.

They will fill out over the next few years with more stems coming up from the base until you have a nice thick plant. After 3/4 years it is best to divide them as they will become old and woody if you don't. Simply dig up the clump carefully in Autumn chop through the centre with a sharp spade and replant with a handful of bonemeal worked into the compost to promote root growth for the following season.
