Does anyone know what these two flowering plants are?

These plants are flourishing on the North side of the house in the shade and have purple flowers on them. Don't know what they are so if anyone knows it would be great. :D

This one is getting to be about 36" or more tall:

This one stays in a 10 inch or so mound:

Once I know what they are, I can figure out how to take care of them. Thanks!

The top one may be baptisia or also called false indigo. This one can very large. The bottom looks like hardy geranium; comes in pink or blue.

Great! Thanks for the quick ID. :D

I'll google them and see how to care for them.

1st is your Baptisia, false indigo. It is native to much of Eastern US. During the summer should develop large black seed pods which add to visual interest. My 2 plants, in different parts of yard, survive neglect, and they are not fast spreaders. I've been doing some seed starting, results mixed! They do have deep roots, so just let them be. If in an area where you may mow or cultivate, put plastic markers in before they go dormant in the fall. They come up late in the spring, and easy to forget where they are!

On the 2nd, throwing out Zebrina, an almost hollyhock. Do a google and see if there's a match.

Thanks for another guess on the 2nd plant. I'll google it and see if it matches better than the hardy gardenia pictures. The flower of the hardy gardenia look like it somewhat but the leaves are not quite right in the pictures I've been able to see. :?

I'll check out your thought and see how it matches. :D

Look for hardy geranium not gardenia.
