Didn't get new tulips in ground before bloom

I bought some tulips and daffodils at the big box store and I didn't get them in the ground before they bloomed.

I'm wandering if I should go ahead and plant them in the ground or let them run their course in the pots and pull them out to dry for the fall and replant them.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance from a gardening novice!

When we get tulips and other spring flowering bulbs as gifts, we enjoy the blooms inside, then I set them outside and plant them as soon as I get the chance. This way, I can care for the foliage so they can feed the bulbs for next year's bloom.
