daylily question

Hi,
I have a question about daylilies. I have all these daylilies in the back of my house and they are hidden under lots of trees and ivy and stuff I haven't been able to clear out. I want to transplant them. When I did them up the roots have all these growths on them that look almost like bulbs. Do I take them off the roots or just transplant them as is? And is now an ok time to transplant day lilies. I just want to get them out from all the overgrowth. Thanks!

Yes, you can dig them up now. Unless you want to divide them just dig the entire root up and plant it.

Yeah, them rhizomes go right along with the rest of the plant when you move them, the rhizomes themselves, if they break off usually will not grow unless they have a leaf shoot attached. They need sun, by the way and will bloom poorly in the shade depending on the degree of shade---not at all in really heavy shade.-------------------------------------Weedy
