Need a suggestion for a Perennial shrub...

We have a small slope in front of our house thats covered with Ivy. We hate the ivy, but since its so hard to remove, we decided to try and "spruce up" the area just above the slope with a flowering shrub of some sort. Problem is, we're not sure what to buy.

I'd like something that doesn't grow too high so that you can still see the hydrangeas we have planted against the house. We are in Zone 6 and the front of the house gets alot of sun, but does get shady in the afternoon/evening.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about burgundy loropetalum? It has color all year round that would contrast nicely with your ivy, and it does have a pretty pink bloom much of the warmer months.

Nandina also have pretty color all year round, from green in the spring and summer to red in the fall and winter months.

You'll want to keep any shrubs away from the ivy tho - the ivy would love to crawl up and choke your shrub.
