When to take cuttings from Ivy Leaved Geraniums?

I have several Ivy Leaved Geraniums which I purchased this year for hanging baskets. However I would like to take some cuttings from them to save for use next year.
Is this possible and if so when is the correct time to take the cuttings?

I believe you should do that at the end of this seasonal growing period. That way the leaves are very sturdy and you won't be taking away from your new plant now.

For geraniums (pelargoniums in particular) you can take cuttings year round. But now is a great time to root them, especally with all the new light we have they will root in no time! That's what most nurseries do! Just make sure you take long enough cuttings.
I root my cuttings in gel - it makes cuttings a snap. Root 2 gel, is the company product I use.
