Dahlia bulbs,

My wife has some bulbs that she forgot to plant last year. Can these be planted this year?? They were kept in the basement in a plastic tote, they started to sprout in the tub over last summer..
She would hate to plant them and then have a big open spot where nothing grew..

She also read/heard that you can pinch off something/somewhere on the plants as they grow to make them stronger???

Thankyou..

Personally I think it wouldn't hurt to try. If they don't work, she can fill in the hole later. The alternative would be to compost the bulbs...

But if they sprouted last summer and were not planted and sat all through fall and winter to now, I'm guessing the bulbs were seriously weakened and may not do well.

If they are growing well, then you can pinch off the top to promote shorter, bushier plants.
