Marigolds - Sunlight

HI I am sure to have a lot of volunteer marigolds this season. (got 3 today)

Needless to say they are in the garden, and were in full sun last year.
I have several places I'd like to put some more to fill in places with some color
problem - these places get little sun each day. I was curious if any of you have plants marigolds in mostly shade, and had any luck.

I want something that blooms early and last a long time.
Seems I have found most plants (that are perenials) have a short blooming season.

Any suggestion of what I could put in a shaded area, and get some results like I am looking for..??

I had one marigold in a mostly shaded area. It got about 1 hour of sun though. It did ok, got several flowers etc. For mostly shade you could give impatiens a try. I am trying them this year.

thanks for the info. I'll check in on these plants.
In my case I want something that comes back on it's own every year due to disability, and it's hard for me to be out doing all this planting every year; and I kind of like a yard where all I have to do is cut the grass and thats it.
Thanks again. I'll see whats what.
Have a great day
