vine id help.....

sorry unable to post pic---but, here's what I got:

appears to be vine, has bluish/ purple starshaped flowers with protruding bright yellow center. the blooms tend to curl back as they fade leaving the protruding yellow part quite obvious. btw, these blooms are rather tiny---I'm sure could fit on a dime easily.

leaves are heartshaped---and alternating on vine.

also, is a berry producing plant---although, they are green at this point.

this is first year I have noticed them. guessing it's a "wild" vine as I have noticed a few growing in the area---and in somewhat of shady area.

well, if this description made any sense, would appreciate some comments.

You have given an excellent description of one of the vines known as Deadly Nightshade. That is a common name, and applies to more than one species. The berries of yours will be red, if I remember correctly. I think the other species produces black berries.

that's what it is! deadly nighshade. never seen it around until this year---and, I am seeing it the more I look.

time to put on the "hazmat" gear and get rid of it. 8(

Although the vine is toxic, it isn't as "deadly" as most people think. Still, I pull it out of my yard whenever I come across it.
