Hollyhocks

Can't believe it... Started these suckers early enough from seed and already getting blooms... So exciting!! A lot of people I have talked to say they do not like Hollyhocks... I love them!

I loved them unitl they invaded any square inch of space, including between pavers and in beds not even close to them. Am in the process of irradicating them!
But they would be great for a space far out from beds that you want to "naturalize".

I heard they are big time spreaders... I'll just have to watch out for that and pull them out when I see them in a place I do not want them.

I love hollyhocks too,they would add a nice touch to my garden.

They are only invaders if you allow them to go to seed. I cut off the stalks as soon as the last flowers wilts. If there are a few pods of ripe seed I harvest them! the rest go into the trash. SO I have no problem with them taking over.

I have zebra hollyhocks and I love them. The always get rust towards the end of the season (now) but mine are so pretty!

so glad I read this. I grew hollyhocks for the first time this summer and was planning on growing more next year. I will know now to take care where I put them!...lol
