transplanting rose of sharon

I have several rose of sharon that are doing OK. Want to move them to a different location. When is best time to do this and what is best way to do it. Also can you split them? Thanks for any help. Our location is Central Pa.

My Rose of Sharon transplanted fine but they were small. I don't know about bigger plants. We transplanted them in the Summer.

I transplanted 3 rose of sharon a few years ago in the summer months, and they did fine. They were already 4 ft high at least. They are really hardy, so you shouldn't have any problem. Spring is best, cloudy day and water in it well. Make sure you water it good once a week for the first year. Of course if you have lots of rain, don't water extra.

They are ridiculously hardy/easy to transplant. In Pennsylvania, right now is probably the ideal time since they are late to wake up in the spring.
