Stunning! Did you start from seed? I love the color.

I've been doing Lupinus perennis (think that's what you have there) from seed the past two years and am sold, getting blooms year two, big whonkin plants and tons of flowers.

Make sure to save those seeds... you can have lots more, and the Karner Blue butterfly (first animal on the Endangered species list) uses it as a larval food source. That's a mid state/upstate butterfly Deb (Karner is just outside Albany) , so you can help save an endangered species with your flowers! (Better grow plenty; larval food means they eat some leaves...).

He was here.. WoW. (or she) Now I am impressed.. 8)
a)How do or when do I get the seeds?
b)How do I save them? ie. paper envl. / plastic baggy
c)How do I store them? :?

I want to plant them around a section of our pond.. but I read they don't like to be transplanted. I have them in a planter box my Dad built for me. Three plants only the middle one bloomed, so far.

I wish I could take the credit. The ones I started from seed were so leggy, well .. it was my first time growing them and the babies were next to the door and everytime the door opened they had a burst of cold air. My Significant other - said that's ok it won't hurt them. Hmmmm.
So the answer - no. I bought them with no buds - just little plants. I loved them and watered them; gave them plenty of sun. And waited and waited and waited... NOW LOOK..! "The Governor" (I believe)

Thank you...

When the flowers pass and turn to seed pods (let them mature, but not dry), cut the heads off and tie them in paper bags and hang to dry. As they do the pods will split open and out will come the seeds. Put them in a paper envelope and tuck it away in the garage or somewhere outdoorsish, but sheltered. Plant next spring and get new plants (probably not flowers). Get out of the way year two; they will be big, and flower nicely. Year three they will be bruisers. Repeat until you have a field of 'em...

The seeds are in the ovary...

And the Karner Blue is smaller...
