Sweet William Pruning

My Sweet Williams have flowered and are now dying away, the question I have is how much do I cut them back by?

Do I cut them down to the ground, about 2-3 inches above or just take the heads off?

Thanks in advance.

Sweet Williams (Dianthus Barbatus) are short lived perennials and are usually grown as a biennial. So even if you try cutting them back (take the heads and stems off), they'll eventually get very straggly, so it's advisable to grow them again from seed - which is very easy.

ID CUT THEM BACK ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE ROOTS AS THEY WILL COME BACK AFTER THE FLOWER YOU COULD TAKE THE SEEDS AND PLANT THEM AFTER THEY DRY OUT YOU WILLHAVE LOTS IN YOUR YARD MOST PERENNIALS YOU CAN SAVE THE SEEDS AND GROW MOREIF I'm NOT SURE WHERE I WANT THEMI PUT IN A EVELOPE AND SAVE TILL I KNOW PERENNIALS ARE ARENT CHEAP SO I MAKE MORE BY CUTTING OR SEEDS
