Hello - I planted a gorgeous butterfly bush last summer and have eagerly awaited it blooming. However, while it is very healthy looking (even with the recent heat wave here in NJ), it's all green with no visible. Is it still a bit early ?
I haven't found any butterfly bushes ay local garden centers so hoping someone here could help me out ! Thank you

I'm in NJ Zone 6B. My older bush started blooming around 3rd week of June, but a new one has only started to grow out buds. I estimate another week to 10 days before they flower.
FYI -- They flower on terminal shoots -- end of new shoots. So if you pruned them this spring after they started to grow, you would have delayed flower development. Don't worry, though, they -- or at least mine -- flower all summer long if you keep the spent flowers cut.
