Perennials

The leaves are curling on some of my perennials. Why?

Hi Carol,

Without more info it would be difficult to say. Are there just a few or specific plants? Which ones? Have there been any environmental changes in the area? Can you post a picture?

Leaf curl, is often a fungal infection though it can also be due to either overwatering or underwatering.

Pictures would help but, I would put my money on the fungal infection.

To prevent this particular problem, spray all your plants with an aerated compost tea (on a regular basis) and cease and desist all uses of fungicides, herbicides, pesticides an the like.

Copper sulphate is often used to combat fungal infections and it is not a poison but, copper is a heavy metal and the use of copper sulphate does have serious detrimental effects of both leaf and soil flora and fauna. So, if someone recommends using Copper Sulphate, I'm going to head them off at the pass, and advise against it.
