RE: Garden pests

Anybody know about using beneficial insects in the garden instead of chemical pesticides. I've been reading about purchasing ladybugs and praying mantis for the garden, and even nematodes to combat grubs in the yard. Would like to know about someone who's actually done this and get feedback.

You've come to the right place. I have a thread in the organic gardening forum on beneficial insects. It may be in the same thread or in a seperate thread but, there is also a list of plants that you can plant to attract different beneficials.

Though, the basis is that you would want to plant flowers that have a high nectar content to attract beneficial insects. Also, you want to attract benefical birds as well. Sunflowers are the big one for those guys. But, for insects some plants that you can plant are Cosmos, Heather, Nemophillia (baby blue eyes), Foxgloves and so on.

Lots of information on the topic out on the web as well. Though, peruse the site as well.
