I divided my ornamental grasses in the wrong season!

Hi,

We love our Miscanthus 'Strictus' grass. We had a very large, overgrown plant so we decided to transplant piees of it to other places in the yard and give them away to friends of ours. However, I just came across this online: "Warm season ornamental grasses should be divided in the Spring, not the Fall. I basically did the opposite of what is stated here. I live in Connecticut and I am worried that these roots won't establish themselves before the winter. Should I just wait and see if they come up next Spring?

Thanks guys.

You can transplant anytime of the year if you take precautions but that said it might serve you to cut back the tops and add some bonemeal to stimulate root growth and you should be fine. Deep freeze will not come until December.
