I just transpanted a bunch. I cut the flowers down. Should I cut the leaves back? Will they die back to nothing this winter anyway and come back anew in the spring?
They were volunteers in my friend's yard. She said they will spread to fill my whole bed if I want. Is this true? They look so scraggly right now.
How much should I be watering these first days after transpanting?
Thanks!
Sang.

Cut the stems back about half, keep damp but not moist, until frost, mulch well for winter. They will die back, but will come back better than ever in the spring and yes your friend is right. As I said above these are tough hardy plants that don't need a lot of fussing (once established, everything needs a little help getting started) and should do well for you...
