Alberta Spruce

My Alberta Spruce has dead needles on the inside.Outside looks good but dry and dead on the inside. Is this normal? It's 9 yrs. old and a dwarf variety; =6' tall!

I'm by no means an authority on the subject, but I think that's fairly normal for needle-bearing evergreens that have dense foliage on the outer ends of the branches. That dense foliage prevents sunlight from reaching the interior area, so the needles there cannot survive. JMO. :)
