Extremely beautiful flower

Now, I know this will be somewhat difficult, since I don't have pictures of the leafy part of the plant, but I can tell you it looked like a type of lily. The entire plant was about 3-4ft tall, including the stalk, and on the stalk was this flower.

No, not the clover, the speckled red and orange flower, can't miss it.

The plant was located at Bear Mountain state park, New York, border of zone 5-6, and it probably was planted, though it seems to be hardy enough to survive on top of a mountain. It was in a part sun location, sandy loam, shallow soil (on top of a mountain).

It is difficult to describe the leaves, but I can try if anyone wants.
I found another picture of the same flower, too bad it wasnt labled, and the leaves in the background cant be clearly seen.

Well, thanks for your help!

P.S. I told her not to pick it, but she insisted.

I'm pretty sure that's a Leopard lily. You can see an image and read a little information about it here.

Yep! definately a leopard lily, thank you for your help! I'm kind of disappointed that they are not native, they are very attractive!
