I need help in identifying big leafy plant

It would be helpful to know where the plant is growing. There may be plants in your area that don't grow in mine, for instance.

The leaf somewhat resembles that of a poinsettia. Do you live in an area where that plant could survive outdoors?

I'm in Atlanta, GA. And many of these were planted in the garden along the house when we moved in. I'm thinking they were cut all the way down because we re-mulched and they weren't there. They are about 3 months old in height.
