plant identification please

one of the only perennials in my yard when I moved here two years ago. my friend says it's campanula? but I disagree...I thought campanula produced single flowers, not clusters like this?
Any help with identification is appreciated!

'Fraid your friend is right, it is a variety of bellflower: Clustered Bellflower, the species name Campanula glomerata. There is a picture of it at:
