Mystery plant! (please help)

Hello fellow gardeners. My fiance and I just bought our first house and we have some mystery plants growing under our front windows. The previous owner didn't do much fall cleanup, so we got to see the aftermath of last summer's plants. In addition to long, slender leaves, there was a 4-5' woody stalk laying on the ground in front of each bunch of plants. I've been Googling and haven't been able to make a positive identification. All I really have to go on is the thick fuzzy stem and thin waxy leaves. Maybe some sort of lily? I have no idea.

If anyone has an idea what these may be, please let me know. Thanks!

Looks like a big healthy oriental lily of some type to me, too.

You guys are right! Thanks to Google maps street view, you see them in full bloom last summer--large orange flowers as high as our front windows, a good 4 or 5' high. After a bit of sightseeing at the nursery last weekend, I have to think they're a standard Asiatic Lily.
