Crocus Bulbs

Is it too late to plant crocus bulbs in zone 5 (near 6)?
Also, is it, or is it not a good idea to fertilize bulbs that are going yellow (dying back) for the season? Some family members told me not to, but everyting I read says its a good idea.

Would give them bonemeal not fertilizer. If not planted yet can you frigerate until the fall when it's the best time? Could lose a season if planted now. Screwing up the process does not help.
