Please Help Pink Pentas

I'm concerned about my two little penta shrubs. :( I planted them both in a bricked in flower bed/box last year. They never grew at all but they didn't die..
The care card said they like bright light, so this year I took them out of the box and re-planted them in plastic flower pots and put them on my patio so I could move them around for more sunlight.
There not dying because half of the plant blooms but one side won't. Finally the one bad side turned brown and dried up so today I dugg the whole thing up again, washed the roots, cut away the dead part and put it back in the pot.
I want to put them back in the flower bed once they're doing better but I'm not sure what else to do for them. Ive used blue juice and Osmocote so now what?????
