Morning light maiden grass

I just received some morning light maiden grass from our local Freecycle network. My husband and a gardening friend warn about it being invasive. I was told it wasn't invasive for her in Zone 5, what is your experience? The Latin name is Miscanthus sinensis "morning light". I have received "free" plants before that I've spent years digging out to get rid of. Am I making a mistake again if I plant it? Thanks for any help.
