Best seed position in grow cells

Maybe this has been asked and answered before, but I only thought about this today when sowing some Hale's Jumbo Cantaloupe seeds in some gro cells. Except for bean seeds, which I've always planted with the side where the root comes out, down, I've always just laid the seeds on their side on the soil, then cover lightly. (cell on right in photo)

Wondering if there's any advantage to planting the seed with the root tip side down? (cell on left in photo)

Or does it even matter?

The pointed part of the melon seeds (is there a name for this?) is where the root shoots out, so this is what I point down, with these, and similar seeds. They'll go down, I'm sure, if the seeds are on the sides, as you stated.
