Fungus-like stuff on avocado root

Hi! I've been growing avocado trees from avocado pits for a while no, and I recently noticed one of mine has fungus-like stuff on it's root. Any idea what it may be? The root itself is growing perfectly fine though.

Have you grown others to this stage before? I'm pretty sure this is normal and the root is getting ready to branch -- those bumps are where the side roots will grow out....

Yes I have...I've grown avocado pits into 3 ft trees! And I've never seen this before.

Hmm.... It's been a while for me -- at least not since last winter, but I grow at least a couple every year just for fun (my biggest trees are probably over 10 yrs old and would be over 7 ft tall if I don't keep pruning them to stay under the lights) and I *have* seen this before.

Just not sure under what specific conditions. Could be different variety, temperature, light conditions....?

Yes, you're probably right...it's just really buggin' me because the stuff is getting from the root onto the avocado pit itself  and my other avocado roots I'm growing are a couple weeks older and way longer and don't have that stuff on them.
...Mother nature's mysteries

Does it rub off? I don't think it belongs there especially if it is spreading onto the pit itself.

Yeah, I'll try rubbing it off...it's just I'm scared to touch it  Haha!

Hi Anna, did you get an answer to this? I’m in tropical North Queensland in Australia and it’s happened to mine.

I really think it’s just time to plant them in (well draining) soil.... So much fun to see them grow! :D
