Starting papaver somniferum in the Napa Valley

Hey guys, it's been forever!
I know there is a certain 'zone' number, but I'm in the napa valley and I'm wondering when to start these papaver somniferum seeds.
Get back to me, I know it's too late to start them this year, but I want to be ready for next year.

Hi, sorry, I found this languishing in the unanswered posts section. It looks like you are probably in zone 9 (USDA system). So you have a long growing season and choices about when to plant. If you have plenty of seed, you might want to plant some in Nov-Dec and then again in Jan-Feb. That will give you a succession of blooms.
