Starting seeds in Hawaii

It is still unseasonably cold for this time of the year. Yesterday the day temperature was 74 degrees. However the seeds are coming up better and my Roleks eggplant sprouted and tomatoes are doing o.k. I still haven't had my test seeds from the yellow bell come up yet. But, I will try again with some Cal wonder, when that starts germinating better, then I will start my more valuable peppers. I can always get more Cal wonder seeds easily enough. Bhut Jolokia not so much.

Does your proximity to the ocean affect the germination success at all?
