Bare patches on lawn

Hi All

We have a couple of bare patches on the lawn, basically it is from outdoor furniture that has been left out all winter and the huge amount of rain we have had and trampled by kids etc.

Should I just leave and hope it grows back or put some seed down, if I need seed when is the best time to throw it down? I'm in the north of the UK

Cheers

Mike

Normally, seeding grass is done in the fall, August thru September, but can be done in the spring.
Rake out all the dead grass, even if you have a little green grass roots to come up with it. Break up the top soil it may be hard packed which will not let water through to the roots once the seed has germinated. Water regularly till evidence of grass is seen.

Note* Brown spots on a lawn can mean weather condition, unequal distribution of fertilizers, or Insects (grubs, cinch beetle). If your brown spot top grass area comes up to easily it may be from Insects listed.
