Hi,

I am interested in growing celery but I was reading about it and it sounded like it is hard to grow. I read you have to keep the soil constantly wet and fertilize a lot. Also I am confused on whether it is best grown in Spring or Fall.

I've been reading up on celery too. It takes 12 weeks to grow from seeds to transplant size, and you can't let them experience below 55°F temp for any length of time or they think the're into second year already and bolt. But they are cool weather crop.

For me, the slow seedling growth and temperature issues would be the first near impossible hurdle. :? I bought some started transplants this spring, and I think I'll continue to do that. (two plants out of the 6-pack are bolting, BTW)

I should think any of these cool wether crops are best grown during winter in your location? So maybe as soon as it gets cool enough in fall?

I may just do that. It will drop below 55F like mid November around here. I don't have any seeds yet so hope to get those fast and start them. I don't know where I can find starts.
