So I started two flats of romaine one 72 cell and one loose flat. I over crowded the seeds a bit like 3-5 in some of the cells n rows. My question is when is the best time to thin out the seedlings or transplant them. I know it isnt recommended to over crowd seeds but limit space where my sun room is. Any advice or tips are much appriciated.

I've never grown lettuce but have a seed pkt of Iceberg Lettuce which I'll try this winter. Sorry I am of no help to you, I'll be watching for experts' reply on this as it'd be useful for me too. Good luck with your lettuces.

Cheers

Same here first time growing anything. I know most people just direct sow but weather is weird in nj and really has been windy where I live so I figured id give it a whirl inside. Then when they get like two or three inches try to transplant a few outdoors see how they take to the ground/weather. My only concern is how deep to bury the seedlings. Hope your lettuce does well in the winter.

Cheers
