I bought these zinnia seeds from Burpee a couple of months ago and started sowing them outdoors since I am located in the Philippines. They're in my garden now and are 2 ft in height but no flowers, I can see that they're healthy because of the wide leaves and fat stem. They get enough sun everyday. Something wrong with them? When will they start to bloom??

My zinnas have been blooming for a few weeks now. I bet you are getting close. As with most any plant don't give too much nitrogen as that can stimulate vegetative growth at the expense of flowering. Zinnas can be a little slow to bloom. Our temperatures were up into the 90's (30 celcius) before the plants started flowering this year.

How old are your zinnias? I'm excited about mine, I have a scarlet red and a rare chartreuse color. The red one is said to be hybrid but I'm not sure, the packet says it's a 5" fully double flower and the other one is 3" double chartreuse flower. What colors do you have?

My zinnas are part of a very wild annual garden. Several years ago I planted quite a few zinnia seeds but for the past couple of years the plants result from self seeding.

Here are a couple of photos from last year. Like I say, it is a very wild, naturalized area, so is nothing like a planned or formal garden.

The largest orange flowers are fiesta del sol or Mexican sunflower. The zinna's are mostly about a meter tall with bright pink being the dominant color but also many reds, creams, and yellows.

Nice garden, I actually like those type of gardens, feels like you're in the wild and your close to nature.. I love that black eyed susan you have, I wish I can grow that here but I think it will not survive. We also have that orange flower you have in your garden.
