Thinking ahead!

Has anyone grown wax (fibrous) begoinias from seed? Some seed catalogs carry them and I was thinking of trying it next year. By the directions, though, they have light/dark requirements if they are to flourish during the growing season.
Would be interested to hear of anyone's experience with them.
