Starter Seed Boxes

Hi Everyone-

My local nursery doesn't have the biodegradable pots for starting seeds.

I am thinking about making my own with brown cardboard. Would seed pots made with this material obstruct the roots as they grow or would they decompose in a short time? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I will just say, I prefer plastic. No falling apart. No root obstruction. No wicking away of water. They are also reusable. Just make sure the plastic container has holes in the bottom.

Another option is making them out of newspaper. YouTube should have videos showing how:-)

Have already started making my boxes made of cardboard. :D

But just out of curiosity, would you use paper mache with newspapers or some other technique? In any case, I ever thought of that before. Thanks.

I found a bunch of them on YouTube. I don't know which one is best.

Hi-

I went to the link you provided and saw a few of the videos. They are pretty much based on the same technique. I will wait and see how my boxes come out and if they don't work, I'll try one of those using newspaper..

Thanks for the link.
