I am stumped as to why my marigold seeds are not sprouting, or in some cases sprouting and dying. I planted Lilly Miller seeds packaged for this season in a 36-cell tray in high-quality seeding mix from a respected local nursery. They've been on a heat mat and under a humidity dome. In short, I think this is the most ideal situation of all the seeds I've planted recently.
The packet says I should expect them to sprout in 5-10 days. It's been 11. I'd think maybe they're just slow (though everything else I've sprouted in the past 5 weeks has come up sooner than expected), but a few have actually shown tiny sprouts only to disappear the next day.
I think the moisture level is right. Again, I think everything has been right, but obviously something's wrong. Are they fussy about having light immediately after the first seed sprouts? Any ideas? I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.
