Building the ColdFrames!!

Got my first ColdFrame almost all the way done! Got the windows off of craigslist for free and spent $15 for screws, brackets, hinges, handles, and caulk!

I used stainless L brackets to screw the windows together and caulked all the seams. The gap in front of the lid will have a cedar filler piece put in soon. Should keep the plants nice and toasty!

Enjoy!

Looks nice.

Be careful, It can go from toasty to roasty rather quickly.

I would stick a few gallon jugs of water in the back of it for collectin and giving off heat!! You sort of have a mini greenhouse cold frame! My cold frames are close to the ground more like a raised bed cold frame. Looks nice!

What a great idea, we have lots of old windows from a church, I'm gonna give your idea a try.

All my cold frames are doing great! The weather will be above freezing all wee so Itook the windows off and put screens I have over the cold frames to keep the cats out. The screens also let the rain water the plants. My peas in the cold frame are 6 inches high now! All the lettuce has several leaves.
