Corn Dogs Recipe & Instructions

I found my recipe it has been lots for 15 years. This is the best corn dog recipe ever. Technic to coat hot dogs is the trick to make batter stick.

Insert sticks full length of the hot dogs or sausages. Cut sticks to length so they fit in your skillet. Cook in 350 degree F Conola oil deep fry about 3 minutes. Conola oil does not have greasy oily flavor.

Dry hot dogs with paper towels. Roll dry hot dogs in 1 tablespoon of corn starch, wipe away excess corn starch with your finger to make sure the whole hot dog has a white powder coating. Don't waste any time getting 6 to 8 hot dogs dipped, batter will foam.

I deep fry 2 corn dogs each time in 1" of oil in my cast iron skillet at 350 degrees F. Roll corn dogs in oil so they cook on both sides. When 1 corn dog is cooked replace it with the next batter coated hot dog.

Don't substitute, buttermilk for water or beer or whole milk it will give you trouble, batter will slide off of the hot dogs before they cook.

Dip hot dogs in a tall glass, wiggle & spin the hot dogs as you slowly pull them up and out of the batter. If you get bad places push hot dog down then pull it up again. When moving hot dog from batter to skillet rotate the hot dog so batter stays even all around. First hot dog is YOUR education how it is done, it is easy.

Make & use up the whole recipe with your favorite hot dogs or sausages. We made 6 corn dogs and could have made 7 or 8 but our hot dog package was only 6. We put 3 corn dogs in the refrigerator to eat later. I will probably eat 1 for snack sometime later today.
