Strawberry Ginger Lemonade/Basil

Perhaps this has already been discovered but with the abundance of berries I have had this year I wanted something different than just the usual lemonade/strawberry drink...

It isn't a set recipe suit to taste: :)
2-3 c. fresh strawberries halved
2 lemons juiced
2-4" piece fresh ginger sliced thin
1 c. sugar
2 c. water

Place Ginger into a sauce pan and sugar, and water. Bring to boil. With lid on simmer 5-8 minutes add berries replace lid and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.(careful with the heat when adding berries they will over flow.) With lid on set aside to cool. In the mean time squeeze lemons into pitcher. Once ginger/berries have cooled add to lemon juice through a screened strainer. Add water and enjoy.
I also do the same with fresh basil, just grab a bunch and add to the berries at the same time. Both are very refreshing.

You can use lemon basil with this recipe.
