I collected a lot of cherries from wild trees, earlier in the year. I had not previously known about those trees. They were a mix of tiny, dark, sweet ones and, tiny sour ones. They were not very sour, just a little bit. I don't know the names of the two varieties but, they looked these https://3.bp.blogspot.com/_q3NWFMxLtRI/S ... G_7241.jpg The sweet ones were even smaller than the others.
The problem was with the sheer amount of fruits. I ate some and gave some to relatives but, I was still left with a huge amount. I used some to flavour vodka. That turned out well. The rest started to decay and had to be thrown away.
What else can be done with cherries, to preserve them for as long as possible? I intend to go back and pick more every summer, in the future.
What else to do with Cherries?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am interested in uses that will preserve cherries for at least a few weeks.
When I used some to flavour vodka, it was like the instructions at the following link https://www.wikihow.com/Infuse-Vodka-With-Cherry
