Pickling cucumbers?

Hi all, in an attempt to get my husband to eat more veggies, I am going to try pickling some of my cucumbers this year. Seeing as I have never pickled ANYTHING, I have some questions. When should I pick the cucumbers? We like smaller, crisp pickles, but my cuke variety may not be suited to that (I have "Bush Crop Cucumber". Anyway, how do I pickle them?? I will need Dill I imagine... Vinegar? Somebody help, I'm a total pickling noob. :(

Here's some of the places here that recipes for refrigerator pickles (no-cooking, no-canning) have been given

https://www.helpfulgardener.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=143026&highlight=refrigerator+pickles#143026

I found these by typing refrigerator pickles into the Search the Forum keyword box.

I made the refrigerator pickles last year and thought they came out good.

This is late but new to the site. Depending on the type of cucumbers you are growing; Kirby cucumbers are good for dill pickles. Salad type cucumbers can be used for relishes.
