I have a Kratky setup (small 1 gallon bins) indoors, and I have an ongoing biting midge problem. I know they first surfaced when my organic soil was buzzing with bugs, so I discarded the soil. But the midges are still about and sneaking in loads of bites. I have noticed them near the net pots, so I initially thought they were breeding in the nutrient, but that did not seem to be the case either. They might be in the rock wool, but that only ever gets moisture from the evaporating nutrient solution, as I keep the air space for roots to breathe.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to deal with this without completely shutting down my grow and replacing all the plants?
